Agent Canvas Native WordPress Theme Overview

Agent Canvas is a plugin-independent WordPress block theme. It provides native templates, template parts, core-block patterns, semantic design tokens, style variations, and an accessible responsive foundation. Editors customize it in Appearance → Editor using normal WordPress tools.

Canvas is a presentation layer. It does not run an AI model or agent, store workflow configuration, create content automatically, install plugins, or own business logic. It makes no external request, loads no remote font or frontend theme JavaScript, and includes no telemetry or tracking.

What ships with Canvas​

  • eleven editable block templates;
  • seven template parts;
  • 38 patterns built from core Gutenberg blocks;
  • Cloud, Aurora, Emerald, Coral, Slate, Warm, and High Contrast visual styles;
  • semantic color, typography, spacing, radius, shadow, and gradient roles;
  • seven presentational core-block styles;
  • visible keyboard focus, reduced-motion behavior, responsive layouts, RTL support, and editor parity;
  • a static, read-only presentation manifest for compatible editing tools;
  • token-driven presentation for related-record card grids and compact lists.

Canvas does not import demo content when it is activated. Every pattern insertion and Site Editor change remains a user action.

Product responsibilities​

Canvas is designed to remain useful on its own. Optional companion products have separate jobs:

  • Agent Starter owns curated initial content, recipes, and inactive configuration packages.
  • Agent Composer owns Config Sets, Site Contracts, Blueprints, validation, audit, and governed agent-owned drafts.
  • Provider plugins own their blocks, WordPress Abilities, services, and business logic.

The Canvas presentation manifest is discovery input only. It contains semantic component and editable-slot mappings, not prompts, credentials, callbacks, executable policy, or site-specific workflow configuration.

Portability​

Canvas patterns use core WordPress blocks rather than proprietary content blocks or shortcodes. After a theme switch, Canvas-specific wrapper classes may lose their Canvas styling, but authored content remains readable and editable.
